The Hidden Talents of the Shock Cord

Most people think of shock cords as the elastic straps on bike racks or car roofs. In fact, they are used in a wide range of industries, from rail and automotive to medical, naval, aeronautics and even aerospace.

Composed of a rubber (latex) core and a sleeve made of braided or knitted threads, shock cords are available in other materials to withstand increasingly challenging environments, such as fire, hydrocarbons, weather, temperature fluctuations, UV rays, abrasion and tearing. This ensures they meet a wide range of mechanical requirements (strength, elongation), including data transmission.

SANDOW TECHNIC is the first company to develop shock cord engineering using predictive and calculation tools to meet CDC standards and create new, increasingly high-performance product lines.
